$10,000 Retention Payment Deadline

December 18, 2025

Eligible NBNU members have until December 31, 2025 to sign a 2-year Return of Service (RoS) Agreement and submit it to their employer for the $10,000 retention benefit announced by Premier Holt’s government in November 2024.

This deadline applies to all eligible NBNU members, including:

  1. Newly hired nurses who accepted a permanent position after November 28, 2024.
  2. Casual nurses who accepted a permanent position after November 28, 2024
  3. Former permanent part-time nurses who:
    • Received a partial retention benefit
    • Accepted a permanent full-time position after November 28, 2024, and
    • Wish to receive the remaining balance of the $10,000 retention benefit.

Note: Permanent part-time nurses that have increased their permanent part-time FTE are not entitled to an additional retention amount.

Example: A permanent part-time nurse who went from a 0.5 FTE to a 0.8 FTE is not entitled to an additional retention amount.
