International Women’s Day 2024: Let’s Inspire Inclusion

Each year, a theme is chosen for International Women’s Day:  this year, it’s Inspire Inclusion. When women are inspired to foster inclusion and to be included, this translates into a greater sense of belonging, relevance, and empowerment.

International Women’s Day is also a day when we come together and globally celebrate the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women and a day to bring focus to accelerating efforts for women’s equality.

“As President of the New Brunswick Nurses Union, I always appreciate the value of New Brunswick nurses, but even more so on International Women’s Day,” said Doucet. “With over 95 percent of NBNU members being women, this day is one of celebration for nurses across our province – those who provide the care patients, clients and residents require when they need it most. Women have amazing strength of character, are powerful leaders and are compassionate care providers.”

Many events are taking place on International Women’s Day, some virtually and others in person.

“Let’s thank and celebrate the important and influential women in our lives and continue to lift each other up,” said Doucet.  “Together, we are always stronger and better versions our ourselves.”
